What size bedding should I get for a queen bed? ›

The term "full queen sheets" can be slightly confusing as Full and Queen are two distinct bed sizes. However, this phrase usually refers to sheets that have been designed to fit both Full and Queen size mattresses. Full-size beds, also known as double beds, typically measure 54 inches in width and 75 inches in length.

Even if you get queen size sheets for your queen bed, you might discover that the fitted sheet doesn't fit. This can occur when your mattress thickness doesn't pair well with the sheet you have. A sheet that is too deep for your mattress may bunch up around the sides.

Queen bed sheets are bigger than a full bed. Full bed sheets typically measure 53 x 75 inches, whereas a queen is 60 x 80 inches. Essentially, queen sheets fit a full bed with space left over. The only issue here is that your sheets might slide around on your mattress due to the surplus fabric.

A queen size mattress (60” x 80”) is the most popular option but plenty of people opt to go smaller with full size mattresses (54” x 75”) or larger Kings (76” x 80”).

An easy rule of thumb is to buy a quilt and quilt cover at least one size bigger than your bed. So, if you're snoozing on a single, use a double quilt, and if you've doubled down on bed size, cover it with a queen.

The fact is that full beds vs. queen beds aren't different enough in their dimensions that one size sheet set or bedding won't work pretty well for the other.
